About the Project

Sport, Sustainability
& Digital Tools

CYCLE2CONNECT is the first European student cycling challenge that brings together sport, sustainability, and digital tools. Students form teams, track their cycled kilometres via a mobile app, and participate in workshops on sustainable mobility.

Designed by Cycling Team ROG with the support of the City of Ljubljana and EUSA. Runs from March 1, 2026 to August 30, 2027.

Inclusive by Design

Special emphasis on vulnerable groups and equal opportunities for all participants.

How the Challenge
Works

From daily rides to the final event in Ljubljana — every kilometre counts.

Km Collection & Team Challenge

Students collect cycled kilometres via the app, form teams, and qualify for the final event in Ljubljana through a digital leaderboard.

Final Challenge in Ljubljana

The team challenge takes place on June 10, 2027 in the centre of Ljubljana using the BicikeLJ city bike system, as part of Maraton Franja BTC City.

Educational Workshops

Workshops on sustainable mobility, healthy lifestyles, road safety, and inclusion of vulnerable groups across all partner countries.

International Networking

Collaboration among universities, sports federations, and cities from 12 countries, exchanging best practices in sustainable mobility.

Inclusion of Vulnerable Groups

Adapted activities and accessible participation formats ensuring equal opportunities for all students.

Data Collection & Impact

Monitoring participation, analysing behavioural changes, and developing recommendations for universities and cities.

The European Student Cycling Challenge takes place in the centre of Ljubljana as part of Maraton Franja BTC City — the largest recreational cycling event in Slovenia.

Top participants from all 12 countries qualify for the final team ride using the BicikeLJ city bike system.
